College of Pharmacy
Pharmacy Residency

Meet Our Residents

Dr. Bailey Book is completing her PGY1 on our main campus, Monroe. She is originally from Monterey, LA, which is a very small town in central Louisiana! She graduated from the 窪蹋勛圖 College of Pharmacy in May of 2023. She had the opportunity to experience most of pharmacy school with her brother, Trey, as he graduated pharmacy school just one year before her in 2022. Their father, George, is also a 1994 graduate of the 窪蹋勛圖 COP, so the pharmacy profession runs in the family! Bailey chose 窪蹋勛圖s PGY1 program because of the emphasis on academia, along with how much she loved learning from her teachers while in pharmacy school. She hopes to help students in the same way so many of them helped her and could not imagine a better place to do that than at 窪蹋勛圖. Baileys areas of interest include academia, community pharmacy and ambulatory care. With help from her family, she coordinated multiple vaccination clinics during her time as a pharmacy student and she is always looking for new ways to help her community through pharmacy. In Baileys free time, she loves to travel, go on afternoon walks, and sing in her praise and worship band at church.

Dr. Books longitudinal research project is titled Measuring adherence to best practices when dispensing liquid medications for children. She chose this study topic due to her passion for community pharmacy and identifying areas to improve best practices for patients when dispensing their medications.

Dr. Taylor Matranga is completing his PGY1 on our New Orleans Campus. Dr. Matranga is originally from Pearl River, LA and completed his undergraduate and pharmacy studies at University of Louisiana at Monroe. Dr. Matrangas areas of interest include internal medicine, ambulatory care, and emergency medicine. When asked why he chose 窪蹋勛圖 NOLA, Dr. Matranga responded I chose 窪蹋勛圖s residency program because I have worked with most of the faculty during my APPE rotations and was blown away by the knowledge and support that I was provided, and I want to continue gaining more knowledge to provide the best patient care possible. In his free time, he loves to play video games with friends and go on runs.

Dr. Matrangas longitudinal research project is comparing the incidence of neurotoxicity in cefepime vs. meropenem. He will also be presenting his Medication Use Evaluation titled Appropriateness of IV Iron Use in Heart Failure at ASHPs Midyear Clinical Meeting.
